NISSAN REPORTS AUGUST SALES IN EUROPE


ROLLE, Switzerland (September 4th, 2008)
- Nissan has reported 36,869 sales in Europe in August representing an increase of 0.8% year on year. A total of 430,834 units have been sold since January 2008, up by 19.9% compared to the previous year.

 

Francois Goupil de Bouille, vice president for sales for Nissan in Europe commented, “We are pleased with our sales performance in August given the tough economic situation cross Europe. Nissan is managing to maintain steady growth of 20% year on year which will be further supported with the imminent arrival of the new Murano and a new Qashqai+2.”

 

Key highlights

 

  • The UK performed well in August with almost 2,000 units despite being a traditionally quiet month in the lead up to the September registration plate change.

 

  • Russia was up 27% against the same month last year with 13,737 units, where the X-Trail, Tiida and Almera Classic are performing well.

 

  • Qashqai sold 12,518 units in August as it prepares for the sales launch of the new 7-seater version Qashqai+2 across Europe.
