Amsterdam, 24 april 2023 – Het Nissan Formula E Team eindigde afgelopen weekend buiten de punten in beide races van de Formula E-Prix in Berlijn. De Nissan-coureurs Sacha Fenestraz en Norman Nato herstelden zich in de races echter sterk na de moeizame kwalificatie.
Beide kwalificatiesessies op het circuit op luchthaven Tempelhof verliepen moeizaam voor de Nissan-coureurs. Maar tijdens de races vochten Fenestraz en Nato zich sterk naar voren, ondanks dat hun auto’s nog niet waren voorzien van het volledige upgrade-pakket dat op de planning stond. Mede dankzij de goede teamstrategie legde Fenestraz voor Nissan beslag op de twaalfde plaats op zaterdag en de elfde plaats op zondag. Nato eindigde op de dertiende respectievelijk zestiende plaats.
De volgende race van het negende seizoen van het ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is de E-Prix van Monaco op 6 mei a.s.
Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal, Nissan Formula E Team: “It was a difficult weekend for us. Unfortunately we weren’t able to bring all the upgrades planned for this event and that’s what we think made a major difference compared to other teams. In both races, our strategy was good and the drivers performed well, which makes our lack of pace even more frustrating. We’ve got a lot to analyze and learn, and hopefully in Monaco we will come back stronger and set a positive trend since the start of the season.”
Norman Nato: “We were very good in terms of energy management this weekend, but unfortunately we were missing a bit of performance, which kept us out of the points. Our strategy was good, but we had too much tire degradation. We’re still working hard to improve at every event, and we’ll take what we’ve learned in Berlin and in the first half of the season to be more competitive in Monaco.”
Sacha Fenestraz: “It was a tough weekend, both races were chaotic and we were able to get close to the points. We found ourselves in a difficult situation in qualifying but we learned a lot and put in two good performances in the races. Energy management was really key and we did that well, which is why we moved through the field. We need to be realistic, we’ve come a long way since the start of the season but of course everybody else is also improving so we have to keep working hard to come back stronger and fight for a better result in Monaco.”
